However, this time around, no Jeremy in the studio...what's a Steve to do? Enlist the help of our first ever guest host (who also happens to be Jeremy's opponent in the forthcoming zombie debate)! Ladies and gentlemen, Kirsten from HorrorSociety.com joins Steve on this week show for a somewhat inebriated discussion about...well, let's just say there's a lot of movie talk whenever these two old friends get together, and this show is no exception! So let's all join in the fun as Kirsten breaks her broadcasting cherry!

What the f**k is going on lately?!?

First of all, a happy 4th of July to all...now, onto the meat...

Steve McNair, NFL quarterback, found dead today of gunshot wounds, in a downtown condo in Nashville, Tennessee, next to the dead body of a 20-year old woman who was described as a "friend".

Look, I know that when we reach the point here in society where it seems like famous people outnumber us ordinary folk, celebrity deaths will pile up accordingly. But this recent string is almost incomprehensible. In exactly one month, SIX prominent celebrity deaths, and five of those in the last two weeks. On top of that, they can be subdivided into three categories, if one wanted to do so:

The somewhat expected:

Ed McMahon - June 23 - Age: 86 - Ailments: Bone cancer, pneumonia, just being 86 years old

Farrah Fawcett - June 25 - Age:62 - Ailments: Anal cancer

The completely unexpected:

Michael Jackson - June 25 - Age: 50 - Cause of death: Cardiac arrest (cause of cardiac arrest as yet unknown, but theories lean toward drugs)

Billy Mays - June 28 - Age: 50 - Cause of death: Cardiac arrest (cause of cardiac arrest theorized to be hypertensive heart disease)

The potential celebrity scandal:

David Carradine - June 4 - Age: 72 - Cause of death: Asphyxiation (likely brought on auto-erotically, but initially suspected as suicide, and also theorized to be foul play)

Steve McNair - July 4 - Age: 36 - Cause of death: Gunshot wounds (but with a LOT of unanswered questions at this point)

Now, I'll grant you all this, Michael Jackson's death could wind up counting as a 'celebrity scandal' too, but I doubt it. At the risk of editorializing, the Jackson death will get wrapped up and the true cause WILL be found. C'mon, it's Michael Jackson...ain't NO WAY anyone is gonna leave a question mark stamped on this one, not in this day and age.

They say these things happen in three's. Well, there's six for you. Two on the same day, two precisely a month apart, and only a couple of days gap between the other two. Just crazy...

I guess I didn't have a point other than to reflect on something other than my life for a moment, and this is my forum...any thoughts on all of this, anyone?

So, Steve and Jeremy sit down to record an episode, and Michael Jackson dies mere minutes before they start. What to do? The answer: Instantly scrap the show plans that had already been hinted at, and talk about the event as it is happening. Now, nobody on DGHTS is claiming to be NPR...far from it. But, if you're interested, here it is. Steve's and Jeremy's opinions, conjectures, and flat out misinformation about Michael Jackson's death, and the slew of celebrity deaths just before, all unfolding in real time just after the the MJ news came over the wire. A StickPodcast Announcement...

Hey everyone. DGHTS would like you to know that we have made a decision to remove Episode One from our archives. In the interest of the future of the podcast we feel that Episode One is not indicative of where we are heading or even one of our best efforts. It's episode one, Duh!

We also fear that, even though we are not an episodic style of podcast and the entries do not in any way need to be listened to in order, that some of our listeners are hearing the first venture and no longer tuning in for the much better other episodes.

For those of you that heard it and gave your comments or compliments we very much appreciate it and hope that you look forward to future episodes as much as we do. We won't say it will never be seen (or heard as it were) again, but for the time being it will be sent to limbo to await it's destiny.

So we're finally on the way to super stardom and did our first offcial test run with the new setup last night. Podcast episode one is right around the corner (I know, I know, but I'm serious this time). Keep your eyes peeled here for the release which should be sooner than later now that we're up and running. iPhone 3.0 Roundup

Yesterday, March 17th, Apple revealed information regarding their upcoming iPhone 3.0 firmware release. There's alot of great stuff coming and some still missing but seemingly rightfully so.

So that I don't regurgitate what's already been posted a thousand times in a thousand blogs I figured I'd give Apple and CNet all the credit and just post a link.

...and we have waited it out as patiently as we can, but the fact of the matter is that this site was created for Jeremy and I to put our podcast out there, onto the interweb...

...but, as of right now, we have no podcast.

We're working on it as much as we can. However, we aren't two guys without lives...we're just two guys that happen to love the things that people normally associate with guys that have no lives. So, despite the illusion, things are what they are. We had to work out how to do the show, and now we have to re-work how to do the show, based on the current circumstances in our personal lives.

Having said that, on to the next post...

Hello, good evening, and welcome to Don't Give Him The Stick, the (soon-to-be) weekly podcast about...well...whatever the hell we feel like, actually. If you have stumbled upon this site randomly, please keep coming back if you want to hear what (we hope) will be a hilarious, possibly insightful (more likely idiotic) weekly internet radio show about all of the topics that interest us.

Who are we? Jeremy and I are just two great friends who have an excellent conversational chemistry, and aren't afraid to use it! I'd say more, but I don't want to spoil anything...either you'll like us or you won't. That's the long and the short of it.

Anyway, keep coming back to check for updates. Episode 1 of DGHTS is coming soon, and will be followed by weekly episodes (possibly more frequently than that, from time to time) therafter.
